The reseller's WHM can appear a little daunting at first however, the following pointers should help you setup and manage your client hosting plans.
Setup Features
Before creating a new bespoke plan, set up your plan features ...
1 - login to your WHM
2 - in the left hand menu, scroll down to 'packages'
3 - click on 'feature manager'
4 - create a new feature list (keep the name short and recognizable: Bronze, Entry, Starter, etc). You will probably want to create different feature levels for different plan type: low, medium, high, OR entry, ecommerce, business, etc.
5 - select the features you want to include for free. Any you do not select can be included in the next plan up so that a user needs to upgrade his hosting to access those extra features.
6 - accept the changes and exit.
You can revisit the feature manager at any time to edit and change the feature settings.
Setup Packages
When you have a set of features in place, from the left hand option 'packages' click on 'add packages'.
This section is fairly straightforward, you need to name your packages, set bandwidth and space limits, assign passwords and turn on/off individual features.
You may want to give your packages the same name as your features. In this way it will be easy to identify what features go with the different packages.
You can create any number of different packages and features. Again, you can return to edit them if you need to.
Create Account
When you have your packages and feature list in place, you are ready to create a new user account.
From the WHM left hand menu, find the section 'account functions' and click on 'create a new account'. The window that opens will allow you to enter the domain name, username, password and other account details you want to assign to this new plan.
When ready, click 'create' and the new plan will be setup for you.
Accessing Accounts
When you have one or more client hosting plans setup, from the left hand menu in WHM, find the section 'account information' and click on 'list accounts'.
The new page shows a list of all the accounts you have under your reseller plan. From there you can quickly link to the website and user Control Panel for each plan.
If you click on the cPanel logo, it will take you to the COntrol Panel for the new account you have just setup.
If it does not, it is probably because the domain does not yet point to the server. In which case, you can access the user COntrol Panel using temporary links like ...
Be sure to replace the IP 123.123.123.123 with the IP provided in your Welcome Mail.
Transfer Domain
When you have a new hosting plan setup, you need to make sure the domain is pointing to your server.
Contact the domain registrar and have them change the DNS of the domain to those mentioned in your Welcome Mail which will be something like ...
ns1.change-domain.com
ns2.change-domain.com
We give all resellers private nameservers so you should be able to replace 'change-domain.com' with the domain used when setting up your reseller plan. Again, check the Welcome Mail for confirmation.
Primary Domains
Each new hosting account is allocated a primary domain name to work from. On occasion you may be asked by a client to change this primary domain name.
Although this can be done from the WHM, we ask all resellers not to use this feature as it contains a bug and will break the account in several areas.
An account username is only seen by the account owner (not regular web visitors to the site) so there is no real reason for this to be changed. However, if the primary domain really does need to be changed then we ask that a new account is setup from your WHM and the files manually copied across by downloading via FTP from the old account then uploading to the new one.
Settings such as email accounts, databases, etc, should all be setup again in the control panel for the new account and the old account should be deleted from the server ... this will prevent any conflict.
In some cases a reseller may need to change their own main domain (and private nameservers where applicable) on an already active account. Again, we recommend against this for the reasons set out above but in cases where it really needs doing we can take care of it but have a £40.00 one off fee for doing so due to all the manual work required on our part.
