Advanced - Backups
Using the website backup features with advanced plans.
You should always keep a copy of your websites on your local computer to enable easy recovery in the event of a problem. The Advanced Plans have the following backup / recovery options in place.
It is good policy to setup a regular backup schedule for your important files. To facilitate this, the 'backup' area of your Control Panel allows you to backup all your current hosting account settings and files.
To backup or restore website files, simply login to your Control Panel, click the "backup/restore" icon and you are presented with options to create a backup, download a backup and restore a backup.
The Advanced Servers are setup to store daily, weekly and monthly backup archives of all system config files and accounts. These are taken and stored on a separate hard drive within each server. This allows us to restore all configuration and all elements of accounts should the primary hard drive fail.
All clients are strongly advised to make their own regular backups from the Control Panel of via FTP and never to rely purely on our backup process. It has never failed us before but one can never be too careful when backups of important files are concerned.
Although we are able to restore accounts from these archives on request (eg if you delete important files by mistake), there is a nominal £20 charge for this service. To request this please open a support ticket with your server name and account username and we'll carry out the restore.
